Hacker News is the tech community run by Y Combinator, built around sharing and discussing links. Its Show HN section is for presenting something you made, and reaching the front page brings a large technical audience.
Best for
Developers building dev tools, open-source projects or technical products who are open to direct feedback.
Highlights
- The audience is mostly engineers and founders, and the feedback is expert and blunt.
- Show HN lets you post your own work and explain the background.
- There is no paid promotion, and ranking comes entirely from community votes and discussion.
Watch for
The community dislikes marketing language, so keep titles and descriptions plain and specific. Discussion can be sharp, so be ready for it and reply seriously.
